THE MAMMEN AX

The Vikings used axes of many different sizes and styles. The Mammen ax is perhaps the best-known and most finely decorated example of a small throwing ax from the Viking age. It was retrieved from a 10th Century burial mound in Denmark. This replica of that ax exhibits the same decorative pattern found on the blades of the original. It is small at 17 1/2 inches overall with a 4 inch blade. And, we do NOT recommend throwing it! A fine little ax at...

LONGBOWS
We have been offering the red oak longbow for some time. Recently we talked with our bowyer, who has added a number of new styles, some of which are listed below. These bows are made of red oak and hickory - the material is specified in the information below - rather than the much more expensive yew traditionally used. Most are backed with linen. The difference in materials makes no substantial difference in performance of these bows and certainly makes them more affordable. Also, because yew is not used, there is no need for the horn nocks found on yew bows, simplifying manuacture. Please understand that Bold Blades does not make or guaranty these bows. Any claims against the warranty will have to be made with the bowyer, whose information will come with your new bow. However, we are sure you will be very satisfied with the quality and performance of your bow. All bows come equipped with a bow string, stringer and instructions. We are not supplying arrows at this time. There are a number of sources for complete arrows and components available on the Internet. The bowyer requests that you allow him three to five weeks to finish your bow, however our experience has been that most bows ship in two to three weeks. We will have to charge your credit card or cash your check prior to shipment of your bow, because we must pay for the bow at the time we place the order. There is, however, a 30 day full money back guaranty if your are dissatisfied with your bow. We think you will love it as much as we love ours.

TRENCH KNIVES

During WWII, most German soldiers carried a "trench knife", which was something of a holdover from WWI. These knives were very practical in that they could be used for slicing bratwurst for lunch or the odd Allied soldier at close quarters. We offer two versions, one with a 6 1/2 inch blade and wide (double) guard, and the other with a 6 inch blade and narrow guard. Both blades are flat ground, as were the originals. Each is fitted with a walnut handle with brass pins, and an enameled metal sheath, with belt hook and blade retaining spring. These are authentic blades for the collector or re-enactor. They are also very sharp! Your choice....

PIPE TOMAHAWK
The brass head pipe tomahawk was a popular trade item in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Our tomahawk has a 15 inch handle, which has been drilled through so that the pipe could actually be used for smoking,
but we do not condone the use of tobacco products. We should also point out that this tomahawk is not for throwing or chopping wood.
The head is eight inches and a 2.25 inch steel cutting edge has been cast into the head.
Pierced with a diamond and weeping heart, this is a very attractive piece. We have several for just....

We do not usually keep these items in stock and we do not want to keep them on the shelf until we go out again in the spring. So, we are offering them to you at good prices. The quantities of these items are limited and everything is subject to prior sale, so do not hesitate to order now! All sales are final, no returns accepted, so be sure before you order.
FLAILS
We seem to always have some of these left over. The same is true this year, although we sold out of them at all the games we attended except the last one. We have two single ball flails at $30 each plus $6 packing & post and one double ball at $35 plus $6 packing & post.CELTIC POCKET KNIVES

These little knives have Celtic scrollwork on the handles (see the closeup photo on the right). The first knife, on the right, is not Celtic and has horn handles. It is the TW-112, folds to 3" and is $14ppd. It is the last one of these that we have. Next to it is the TW-157 which folds to 3 1/2inches. We have two of those at $15ppd. Next is the TW-152 which folds to 3 1/4 inches and is $14ppd. We only have one of these. We have one of the next knife, a TW-156 which closes down to 3 1/2 inches. It is $15ppd. Finally, on the left,is a TW-153 at $14ppd. It closes to 3 inches and is $14ppd. We have two of these. These knives are made by Timber Wolf. We have found all Timber Wolf knives to be very high quality for the price and very sharp too. In fact, we cut our finger opening one of them for the photo shoot! Be careful.
SGIAN DUBHS
These are really not sgian dubhs as they are all just a bit too big and heavy for tucking into the top of your kilt hose. However, they are nice little knives and will serve many purposes. From left to right they are the Wood Handle which is 9 inches over all with a 4 1/2 inch blade. It is $13 postpaid. Next to it is the Twisted Steel Sgian, which has a blue stone in the pommel (not visible in the photo) and is 8 3/4 inches overall with another 4 1/2 inch blade. It is $15 postpaid. Finally we have what we have called the "Paul Bunyan Sgian Dubh". It is 10 1/2 inches overall with a 4 5/8 inch blade. The handle is hardwood and it is nicely decorated in a Scottish motif. It is $13 pospaid. These will make nice Christmas gifts and can be used as letter openers by your favorite Scot. We have a few of each on hand.
INDIAN & ? KNIVES
The first two knives are reproductions of European trade knives commonly bartered to Native Americans in the 19th c. The owners made nicely beaded leather sheaths for the knives and that practice is represented here. From the left we have the Wolf Hunter, which we would describe as a "neck knife". Eastern Woodland tribes carried small knives in sheaths hung around their necks and this knife fits that description quite well. The blade is 3 1/2 inches and overall length is 6 1/2 inches. This knife is $32 postpaid. Next is the bear hunter with a 4 1/2 inch blade and overall length of 6 1/2 inches. The sheath for this knife is designed to be worn on the belt. It is $34 postpaid. The hardwood handles on these knives exhibit some nice figure and the blade shapes are authentic. The British broad arrow mark is on each blade. Finally we have a knife that defies a definitive description. It is a lot Celtic and Norse, with a bit of Roman thrown in. We will call it the Celtic/Norse Dagger. The blades is 8 inches while over all it measures 13 inches. The decoration is interesting These are only$22 postpaid and we have a good supply. We only have one of each of the trade knives.
FIGHTING BLADES

These knives are fighters. From top to bottom we have a Smith & Wesson boot knife with a 3 1/2 inch blade, 7 1/2 inches over all. There is a clip on the sheath to allow you to wear it tucked into the top of your boot. It also comes with a chain, purpose unknown. Stainless blade of the best quality. $24 postpaid and we have two on hand. Next is a Marine Fighter with a 7 1/2 inch parkerized (we think) blade. Overall it is 12 inches long. $20 postpaid and equipped with a woven nylon sheath. Finally we have a reproduction 1918 Trench Knife. The knuckle guard and spike are authentic. The blades were made in a number of different configurations, including the one shown here. This one is $35 post paid with metal sheath and we have but one.
SURVIVORS
We don't carry as many survival knives as we used to but we do have a couple of styles left from the games. On top is a neat little stainless survivor with a 4 3/4 inch blade. The knife is 8 1/2 inches overall. In the handle you will find a minimal survival kit. The pommel has a built-in compass. The entire thing fits into a woven nylon sheath. We have one of these at $14 postpaid Next is a long time favorite which is a copy of the survival knife issued by the Saudi Royal Armed Forces. This knife has practically everything you need, from a signaling whistle to a slingshot. The blade is 5 1/2 inches and overall length is 10 7/8 inches. The survival items fit either in the handle or in the sheath. We have a couple of these at $25 post paid. Occasionally folks ask why survival knives do not have big Bowie style blades. The answer is that they just don't have to be big to be useful. In fact, in the woods a large knife can be a handicap. Our own USAF survival kit had a small pocket knife with two blades instead of a sheath knife. Fortunately we never needed to use it!
FIGHTING KNIVES

Finally we have two old favorites. The top knife is a copy of the Kabar® Marine fighting knife. It is 12 inches overall with a 440 stainless steel 7 inch blade. The sheath is hard composite and a leg tie comes with it. A very nice knife, we have carried one for years. $18 post paid. The last knife is a "Redneck Toothpick". This "Saturday Night Special" comes with a leather sheath, 6 1/2 inch stainless blade. It is 11 inches overall. Yours for $15 post paid.
KEEP WATCHING AS WE MAY ADD ITEMS
GURKHA KNIVES

We have a few Gurkha knives left. We have two different styles, one with two by knives and one that does not have the by knives (not illustrated). The Royal Gurkha (at the top of the photo) is not available. The Gurkhas with the by knives are $25 ppd and those without are $30ppd. We will provide a photo of those knives as soon as possible. These are full-size knives, not miniatures.
WWII CLEARANCE ITEMS
Original K-98
not available from Bold Blades. The MP-40 is a non-firing replica. Original SS marked helmet not avaialable from Bold Blades.
About three years ago we decided to try our hand at selling WWII reproduction equipment. A search of the wholesale marketplace
did not turn up any reasonably-priced suppliers of repro American and British uniforms and equipment, but German items were
plentiful. So, we took the plunge in a calculated way, including some direct marketing to reenactor groups. Unfortunately that
did not work out and we now have a small supply of items that we are liquidating at prices very close to our cost. These are being sold
on a first come - first served basis and when they are gone we do not plan to restock. Before we list these items, we must
hasten to assure you that neither our company nor its owners are Nazi sympathizers, skinheads or neo-Nazis. We are red, white and
blue Americans of Scottish descent who abhor all sorts of totalitarianism and repudiate the racist philosophy of
National Socialism. Some of the items we offer here are with the swastika, an ancient symbol which was used by the Nazi party. We
realize that many persons find this symbol disturbing and we completely understand. However, there is no denying the fact
that it adorned much of the equipment worn and used by the German army during WWII and is historically correct. If the presence
of this symbol is an issue for you, then we urge you not to buy the product.
HELMETS
MODEL 1942

We have two of the 1942 stahlelms on hand. These helmets were the last style produced before the end of WWII and display
changes in manufacturing techniques demanded by the failing German war effort. The helmets are made with integral vents
rather than the separate vent of the 1935 helmet. The edges are left raw, rather than being rolled under as were those of the
1935 and 1940 models. German helmets, unlike American and British helmets, were sized. These helmets are approximately
72 cm, which was one of the largest sizes produced, and therefore they will fit the larger heads of today's reenactors.
Each comes with a proper leather chin strap and helmet liner. The shells are unmarked and painted in a flat gray color. These are
not perfect copies of the original article but are very good reproductions and will lend themselves quite well to
antiquing, or the field painting frequently done by Wermacht soldiers. Note the photos of a side-by-side comparison of
a reproduction helmet with our original repainted 1942 model (it is the helmet on the right). Because these have been stored for the last three years, they will have some scratches and handling marks. $79 PPD (ONLY TWO LEFT).
FALSCHIRMJAEGER (PARATROOPER) HELMETS
The fallschirmjaeger of the WWII German army was an elite soldier. Of all the soldiers fighting for Germany, they engendered the
most respect from their enemies for their fighting spirit, bravery, humanity and skill. Because there were many fewer paratroopers
than regular German soldiers, original helmets are very scarce and highly collectible. Our reproduction, in size 73cm, is a good
but certainly not perfect copy of the original. The liner and chin strap are well made and correct, but there is less padding
than in the original helmets. But then, we hope you are not plannng to jump out of any aircraft wearing this helmet. Painted in
the same flat gray as the 1942 model. $75 PPD. We also have one "antiqued" shell (see photo of misc. weapons above) which comes with bolts (no liner) for $60 PPD.
We have one splinter pattern camo cover for the paratrooper helmet for $15PPD, Decals are available for
$9 per set PPD. These items are shown below.

WE HAVE SOLD EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE HELMETS/HELMET COVER AND DECALS
